Leslie Arms: Works started to improve look of the building

Scaffolding up on Leslie Arms

For a number of years the Leslie Arms have been an eye-sore on the corner of Cherry Orchard Road and Lower Addiscombe Road. This Grade 2 listed building was closed as a pub over 15 years ago and though the top floors were turned into flats the exterior has gradually deteriorated over the years.

As Local Councillors we have championed the idea that this building should be the focus of the regeneration of the local area, as it is both a landmark and historic building.

We welcome the action taken by the owner of the Leslie Arms to finally take action to improve the look of the building. We are still pressing the Council to ensure that the ground floor has an active use such as a restaurant or pub and that it is not turned into offices or residential accommodation or a facility that is restricted to just one group.
