It was with great pleasure that local councillors have been able to attend the first two meetings of Addiscombe’s newest resident group, ECCO.
The newly formed East Croydon Communities Organisation held its first meeting at Oval School on October 7th 2014 and had its second meeting at Oval Tavern on 10th November 2014. The area it hopes to represents includes all the roads on both sides off Cherry Orchard Road, including Addiscombe Rd (north side to the Cricketers), Colson Rd, Blake Rd, Brickwood Rd, Bisenden Rd, Chisholm Rd, Cedar Rd, Lebanon Rd, Addiscombe Court Rd, Tunstall Rd, Oval Rd, Leslie Park Rd, Cross Rd, Leslie Grove. John’s Terrace, Jackson’s Place, Leslie Grove Place, Edwin Place, Alpha Rd, Bridge Row. At both meetings over 50 local residents attended.
It was clear from the meeting that many people share a passion and desire to improve their local area. Subjects raised by residents included Clean, tidy and well-lit streets; traffic; Crime & anti-social behaviour; natural environment; supporting local businesses and each other; planning matters. The meetings were not just a talking shop but saw groups and individuals taking responsibilities for leading on these.
As local councillors we look forward to working with ECCO to improve the local area and make it a nicer, and more sustainable community.
