Planning Meeting on Menta’s 55 Storey Skyscraper on 21st July 2011

Over 600 local residents have objected to Menta’s planning application to build its 55-storey Skyscraper on Cherry Orchard Road. Local Labour Councillors Sean Fitzsimons, Mark Watson and Patricia Hay-Justice have supported the local resident’s campaign against this overwhelming monstrosity of a building, that will overshadow local residents who live in 2 storey Victorian and Edwards Streets nearby.

The planning application from Menta will be heard at the Strategic Planning Committee on Thursday 21st July 2011 at 6.30pm. Hundreds are expected at the meeting.

Addiscombe Councillors are supporting the new local residents group called RECC (Revitalising East Croydon Communities), which has recently formed as a result of this planning application. We are proud to work with this group and other local residents groups and residents associations, and other political parties, including local MP Gavin Barwell. Email Contact details for RECC is

Local Labour Councillors are calling on all local residents to attend the planning meeting to show the strength of local opposition to these proposals.

At the planning meeting on 21st July 2J11, the Strategic Planning committee will also be hearing Stanhope Schroeder’s latest planning application for Ruskin Square/Gateway site, on the other side of the East Croydon railway lines.
